The job of a QA engineer is to find bugs at many different levels, attacking the application from many different approaches. That approach can discover logical bugs or acceptance-related bugs and is a great help to ensuring better project quality. A study by Glenford Myre showed that developers writing tests were not really looking for bugs, and so found only half to two-thirds of the bugs in an application. Broadly, that means there will always be jobs for QA engineers, no matter what. Although that study is 30 years old, I think the same mentality holds today, which makes the results still relevant today, at least for me.
